Operating principle:
The Opal 460 is a fully hydraulic, water-cooled hot mounting press for embedding polished samples.
In hot mounting, the sample is embedded in a mounting press under temperature and pressure using a plastic granulate.
The advantages of this process are the high hardness of the embedding materials (e.g., glass fiber reinforced) and the good gap-free embedding.

Hot mounting materials are available based on epoxy resin, acrylic resin, phenol resin, and graphite resin.
Main application area:
Embedding samples for better sample preparation for further metallographic investigations.
