Edge Banding
For bonding thermoplastic edge bands (such as ABS, PP, PVC), resin-impregnated decorative paper, veneer edge bands (with or without nonwoven backing), and solid wood edges. As a general rule, the bonding properties and the substrates’ surfaces to be glued (including back-side primers or other surface treatments) must be checked on an application-specific basis prior to use.
Processing Instructions:
Automatic feed systems can be used for processing the adhesive granulate. The ambient temperature should not exceed 30°C. Depending on formulation, different types of hotmelt adhesives may be incompatible with each other. Therefore, we recommend thoroughly cleaning application equipment when changing products. Further information is available upon request.
Processing characteristics may vary depending on the application technology used and variations in feed speed, which can affect the bonding process. Customer trials are required!
Typical Technical Data:
Processing temperature [°C]: 180 – 200
Feed rate [m/min]: 10 – 40
Appearance: Terminal digit 0 = yellow opaque
Terminal digit 1 = white
Density at 20°C [g/cm³]: approx. 1.03 ± 0.03
Softening range [°C]: approx. 90 ± 5 (Kofler heating bench)
Viscosity at 190°C [mPas]: approx. 66,000 ± 10,000
Heat resistance [°C]: approx. 80 ± 5
Open time at 190°C [s]*: approx. 6 ± 2
Setting time: not applicable
* measured on a 200 µm film
