K 36 edge banding machine with Airtronic hot air unit

The machine is equipped with an Airtronic unit, designed to create seamless joints using edge bands with a thermally activated functional layer.

During the edge banding process, compressed air is heated to a temperature of approximately 300–600°C and directed through a nozzle directly onto the functional layer of the edge band, immediately before the pressing zone. Under the influence of the temperature, the layer is activated, and then the edge band is pressed onto the narrow surface of the panel.

This technology allows for a virtually seamless joint with no visible adhesive seam, referred to as a zero-gap joint. This solution works particularly well for processing acrylic fronts, high-gloss surfaces, super-matte surfaces, and other components where high optical quality of the edge band-to-panel joint is essential.

In terms of the visual effect achieved, the Airtronic technology is an alternative to laser systems, without the need for a laser unit.

An important advantage of the machine configuration is the ability to operate using several edge banding technologies. In addition to the Airtronic system, the edge banding machine can also operate in a conventional manner, using hot melt EVA and PUR adhesives. This allows the technology to be adapted to the type of edge band, panel material, and requirements regarding the quality and durability of the finished component.
