Machine Description — Churchill U 3615 Gear Hobbing Machine

The Churchill U 3615 is a heavy-duty gear hobbing machine designed for accurate and reliable cutting of spur and helical gears in industrial production environments. Built with a rigid cast-iron structure, the machine ensures excellent stability, low vibration, and consistent machining quality during continuous operation.

The machine is capable of cutting gears with a maximum diameter of 1,000 mm without tailstock and 863.6 mm with tailstock, and supports workpieces weighing up to 3,000 kg. A maximum gear face width of 400 mm and a maximum module of 10 allow machining of medium to large-sized gears.

The rotary table has a diameter of 740 mm, is equipped with six T-slots, and features a table bore of 89 mm, providing secure and precise workpiece clamping. The machine supports helical gear cutting up to ±45°, expanding its application range.

The hobbing spindle accepts tools up to 180 mm in diameter and 240 mm in length. Spindle speed is infinitely variable from 50 to 200 rpm, allowing optimal cutting conditions for different materials and gear geometries. Feed movements are controlled via P.I.V. variable drives, offering smooth and precise adjustment of vertical, horizontal, and tangential feeds, as well as intermittent and continuous hob shifting.

The machine is powered by a 7.5 kW main motor and operates on three-phase power at 50 Hz. With overall dimensions of approximately 4,500 × 2,450 × 2,450 mm (L × W × H) and a total weight of around 8,000 kg, the Churchill U 3615 is a solid and dependable solution for heavy-duty gear manufacturing.
